The first 13 episodes of the anime, which make up its first season, made their global Netflix premiere on June 30. On September 15, Netflix debuted the second season, which included episodes 14–24. In 1992-1993, a six-episode original video animation (OVA) based on the manga was produced. The anime was made available on home video by Geneon Entertainment (formerly known as Pioneer).

WORDS BY THEM
On the live broadcast, producer Tsuruoka gave us more information on BASTARD!!, stating that “The story goes well beyond the story depicted in the additional episodes,” adding, “This storyline was the most popular in the manga actually. A lot of new characters make an appearance, and we also get to see the fateful showdown between Dark Schneider and Kall-Su. In order to deliver every detail of this part of the story, Hell’s Requiem will consist of 15 episodes.”
Tsuruoka replied, “Production actually started a while back, so we’ve recorded a lot of it already.” When asked how far along the series is in production.
