ABOUT
In the universe of the Magical Girl Raising Project books, magical girls are selected to uphold law and order. However, as the number of magical girls decreases, the most recent generation of magical girls soon finds itself in a terrible struggle for existence.
The Mahushjo Ikusei Keikaku light novel series by Asari End is set in a world where one in ten thousand people can participate in a social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project and become a "magical girl" with unique physical traits, attractive appearances, and magical abilities that set them apart from the rest of humanity. But one day, the government in a district with 16 magical girls declares that in order to address the issue of magical energy, the number of magical girls must be cut in half. The 16 magical ladies compete at first to acquire more "magical sweets" than their rivals, but when the rules change, it swiftly turns into a deadly struggle for survival among them.
Through Takarajimasha's Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! Bunko label, End began the original light novel series in June 2012, and Takarajimasha released the 17th volume in April 2022. The "Restart" arc is covered in the second and third light novel volumes, which were released in November and December of 2012. In June 2017, Yen Press launched the novel series' English edition.
The manga adaptation of the "Restart" arc was introduced by Nori-Senbei in Kadokawa's Monthly Comp Ace magazine in 2016, and Kadokawa released the first volume in September 2016.
On October 1, 2016, the AT-X channel in Japan hosted the world premiere of the 12-episode Magical Girl Raising Project anime, which Crunchyroll streamed live.
A week after the original anime's conclusion, in December 2016, Hashimoto stated that a sequel had not yet been planned.
